This week we opened our 42nd Regeneration Partnership store in Widnes, Cheshire where 1 in every 5 people aged 16-64 are out of work.
Our Regeneration Partnership stores allocate a third of jobs to local people who have been unemployed for over six months. While these candidates often have a wide range of skills and expertise, many are lacking in confidence.
We guarantee them an interview and recruit on attitude not qualifications. It’s this approach, showing faith in their ability and potential, that is so important. This film, a ‘behind the scenes’ look at the application process shows how the scheme makes a real difference to local people and their prospects for employment.
Since the scheme first started in 2000 Tesco has created 13,500 jobs with 4,500 of these going to those who have been long term unemployed.
The film is in two parts, starting with the application process over the last few months before the store opened. Watch the video above and look out for ‘Part 2’ soon.
