Tesco Tannoy Christmas messages

9 December 2016

Between 8 – 15 December, a variety of year groups students from Ark Walworth Academy werer delivering personal Christmas messages to the customers and colleagues at our Southwark Superstore. Both the students and staff who’ve been involved have spoken enthusiastically about the experience, and student Freddie told us that, “at first I felt kind of nervous because I thought I was going to stutter, but I ended up having a lot of fun. My mum even heard and said it was awesome.”

Colleague Beth, who works in the Bakery, agrees and says, “it’s amazing and so lovely to hear their voices – we want them all the time and I’m just constantly thinking, well done!”

Here’s a message read by one of the students:

“Good afternoon ladies and gentleman, I hope you’re having a wonderful day. This year has been tough with lots of pressures, but would love to share what I think Christmas is all about. Whilst presents are lovely I think it’s an important time to stop, reflect and make our plans for how we want to live our life, differently and better in 2017.  The world of politics seems a scary place, but I believe, if we can say hello to one another and do little bits to make ourselves and our community stronger, this world will be a better place. So enjoy your shopping and have a lovely Christmas. Thanks for listening!”
