You may have seen us working hard on site to increase the number of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points. Shire Park colleagues now have access to 22 EV charging points, up from six currently, in the following locations on campus:
|Building||Type of Charger||No of Charge Points||Location|
|HIGHWOODS||2 x Twin 7kW||4||Next to front entrance|
|OMEGA||2 x Twin 7kW||4||Next to front entrance|
|PLUS||2 x Twin 7kW||4||To the right of the car park closer to the side entrance|
|PEAR||2 x Twin 22kW||4||At the back of the car park|
The number of electric vehicles bought in the UK increased by nearly 30% last year and the government has promised to end the sale of new conventional petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2040. Increasing the number of charging points in the Welwyn campus forms part of our sustainability programme, as the electricity consumed across our UK and ROI estate is from renewable sources.
EV charging points are free and are available to both colleagues and visitors to Shire Park. To use the service, all you need to do is register your details on the EV charging database by emailing your car registration number and mobile telephone number to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The charging points are on a first come first served basis and cannot be reserved. You can choose a morning or afternoon session, with morning charging completed by 1pm.
