Every year the IGD awards celebrate the best our industry has to offer. We’re delighted to announce that at the 2014 awards, we scooped two major wins in the Health & Wellness and Innovative Store of the Year categories.
Our Health & Wellness award reflects the amazing work of our Commercial team to remove two billion calories from our soft drinks range in 12 months. The judges were looking for an entry which had made a positive impact on customers and colleagues, and in turn on public health across the UK. It’s hard to find a better example than the work we’ve done on soft drinks, leading the industry in reducing sugar content. You can read more about how we’re improving health here.
The second award, for Innovative Store of the Year, went to our Watford Extra store. Even if you’ve not seen the store for yourself, you will certainly have seen the wider impact of many of the concepts we trialled in Watford. It took teams from across the business ten months of hard work to transform the store into a destination that is exciting, relevant and convenient. The results were worth it as Watford is a fantastic store which our customers love, and it’s great to win an award that reflects that impact.
